Most members are by now aware that we have lost a distinguished member of the Order of the Commonwealth, Sir Vincent Price. Sir Vincent was invested as a Knight of Grace, in 1989. In a subsequent letter to the Prince Grand Master he wrote: " My deepest thanks to you for my treasured investiture as Knight of Grace. My life in the Arts has been a long and very happy rewarding one"! Sir Vincent in his many guises whether villain or hero, always presented himself with gentility and good heart. We extend to his family our deepest condolences and consider ourselves fortunate in making his acquaintance. Godspeed, gentle knight.
Many members will recognize PETER CUSHING (ACTOR), the famous figure of stage, television and screen who passed away several years ago. In 1989 he was awarded investiture to the degree of rank of Knight of Grace in the Order of the Commonwealth. At that time he wrote the Prince Grand Master and said in part, "Thank you and all your colleagues for the honour you confer upon me. ....may God's blessings be with you always." He was at all times a true advocate of the attributes of a gentleman and always an example to us all. His cheerful good nature and pluck were severely put to the test during a long and eventually fatal illness. Sleep well, gentle knight.
